Community Development Halton is seeking volunteer board members to help guide the organization into the future.

Mission: Through research, community development, planning and promoting volunteerism Community Development Halton strives to improve the quality of life for all residents of Halton.

Community Development Halton (CDH) is a nonprofit, charitable, research, and development, organization. CDH focuses on the social impact of larger social, economic, political, and cultural forces on individuals, families, and the broad community. CDH works in the four municipalities in Halton– Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.

CDH works through two distinct programs: Social Planning, and Volunteer Halton.  The Social Planning program helps nonprofit organizations identify strengths and weaknesses and determine ways to improve the quality of life in the Halton community.  The Volunteer Halton program supports nonprofit agencies with training, consulting, and the promotion of volunteerism.

The CDH Board of Directors are leaders who live and/or work in the Halton community. Board members are volunteers, unpaid and elected at the Annual General Meeting held in September. Typically, Board meetings are on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Ad hoc committee meetings are additional. The time commitment required for a Director of the Board is approximately 60-70 hours per year. The CDH Board reflects the strengths and diversity of the Halton community. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Community sector
  • Finance
  • Communications, public affairs management, marketing
  • Fundraising
  • Voluntary governance
  • Chamber of Commerce
  • Community outreach
  • Social justice advocacy
  • Lived experience/engagement with the disadvantaged
  • Team Building
